Big Island Grown Is The First Cannabis Company To Offer Inter-Island Commerce In Hawaii

-

The cannabis industry in Hawai’i can now better serve its multi-island chain of medical marijuana patients, thanks to the state’s approval of inter-island commerce. Big Island Grown was the first official cultivator to successfully transport cannabis to another Hawaiian island. Consumers can now find Big Island Grown cannabis on shelves at Green Aloha Dispensary in two locations: the cities of Kapa’a and Kōloa on Kauai.

The partnership is mutually beneficial. Big Island Grown increased Green Aloha’s revenue by 40% in 30 days and saw a 15% increase in first-time patients. Until last month, cannabis companies were not allowed to transport product from island to island. The historic wholesale move from Big Island is helping the brand to achieve its business goal of bringing fire Big Island weed to each island and providing access for all Hawai’i patients.

“We need legal safe access for responsible adults,” Big Island Grown’s CEO & Co-founder Jaclyn Moore Pharm.D. says. “Now we can finally diversify in a way where every community on every island can have access to products they don’t have access to now.” Big Island Grown is committed to creating partnerships rooted in a deep understanding of the local agricultural landscape and community, with sustainability at the forefront.

The brand gives back to the medical community in its home state. Big Island Grown’s Kokua Program provided over $50,000 worth of premium medicine to patients in need across the Big Island. Serving patients for more than 15 years, its CEO Moore says the brand is actively working to expand its model to other islands, including O’ahu and Maui, in the future. Big Island Grown is hailed in the industry for its community-focused approach to more patients and farmers across the islands.
